Vinton Dogwood Festival 2007 Album description here...Dogwood was lively fun for all
On a sunny and warm - but not too warm - Saturday the Vinton Dogwood Festival 2007 was in full swing, with a new children’s area sponsored by Cox Communications and brisk business at some local shops like Deborah’s Café & Gifts. There was exhibition karate, dancing from the troupe at Miss Mona’s and the vocal styling of Vinton’s own Germaine Fletcher. The new center for arts and crafts booths behind Vinton Baptist was crowded and of course there was food, including that staple of every respectable fair, funnel cakes.

Salem Band Groova Scape at 202 Market in Roanoke Groova Scape is a Salem guitar band that has drawn rave reviews opening for national acts.
Groova Scape is fronted by Salem residents Marcus Morris, bassist and lead singer, and Henry Lazenby, a guitarist who also plays keys.
Groova Scape has opened for such national acts as Dave Matthews' buddy Tim Reynolds. The Salem band recently opened for Michael Travis of the famed String Cheese Incident..
The world-famous Travis even jumped in and played some songs with Groova Scape. "I had a lot of fun," Travis, who said he has never before jammed with an opening act, said afterwards. "These guys can jam. It was awesome."
"These guys are unbelievably creative," said Hash, the bassist for Thievery Corporation, after rocking through a 30-minute jam with Groova Scape at 202 Market in Roanoke in January. Michael Travis of String Cheese said similar things after jamming with Groova in April at 202 Market. "I had a lot of fun," Travis, who said he has never before jammed with an opening act, told Groova Scape afterwards. "You guys can jam. It was awesome."
"I've been a huge String Cheese fan for a long time," said Groova guitarist Andrew Mowles. "I was thinking, 'I'm jamming with Travis.' That was a dream." "It was pretty much unbelievable," agreed Groova drummer Robert Prescott.
It's been a busy 2008 for Groova Scape, with shows opening for Tim Reynolds and TR3, for RAQ, for Thievery Corporation, for Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, for the Bridge, for U-Melt, and for EOTO 9 images / created on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 11:17 am
